This is mainly a reference to times from port to port. I was running my 37 Searay Sundancer at an average speed of 23mph. This can help when planning a trip to one of these ports as you can figure what you run and then do the math. I know that on my PWC I can go 70 mph, but I also know that, at least when I am riding my ski, I wander, explore, swim, and stop more often than when cruising on my boat, and although I may go fast at times, I know that most often my actual cruising time turns out to be about 30 mph. I can think of the perfect example: we were cruising to Quebec City a few years ago and we passed a giant ship. I can’t tell you how many times we passed that ship! We would stop for fuel or swim or explore a small river and come back to the St. Lawrence Seaway only to pass that ship again. Yes, when we needed to make time and we just hammer down then time comparisons mean nothing, but for most cruises that is not the case. At any rate, here are the approx. times I logged.
